Since the end of last week, it’s possible to add a picture frame of the animal welfare organization Loomus to your Facebook profile picture with a message “For Fur Free Estonia!”.
The Loomus picture frame is prompted by a bill banning fur farms soon to be read in Riigikogu, which was submitted by a record number of 23 members of the Riigikogu in June this year. For years, Loomus has been actively working to ban fur farms and consulted Riigikogu on the relevant draft.
With the picture frame, the organization wants to show that Estonian people are in favor of banning fur farms and it is time to put an end to this cruel industry. “It was great to see how Facebook turned more and more orange thanks to our photo frame over the weekend. This shows that the topic is important for people and they care about animal welfare,” said Annaliisa Post, Loomus’ communications manager.
At first, Loomus introduced a picture frame with a message in Estoninan, but during the weekend the organization added a picture frame with an English text at the request of international supporters. Among others, member of the Riigikogu Oudekki Loone, jazz singer Hedvig Hanson and fashion designer Kalle Aasamäe have added a fur-friendly frame to their profile picture.
